How to travel Kakani
Kakani lies 20km. northwest from Kathmandu city. There are a number of ways to reach Kakani which you can choose according to your choice of travel. You can easily get to Kakani via public buses/cars from Balaju, Kathmandu.
Alternatively, you can also hire a private vehicle or motorcycle or mountain bike to reach Kakani from Kathmandu, Thamel. The road to Kakani exits the
Kathmandu Valley and heads northwest along the Pasang Lhamu Highway.
As of the travelers from Pokhara, you can reach Kakani via the Prithvi Highway. However, you follow the Trishuli River and join the Pasang Lhamu Highway instead of continuing on the Prithvi Highway.
You can also choose to
hike from Kathmandu to Kakani. There are two prominent hiking trails that lead to Kakani. The first one starts from Kathmandu and goes through Ranibari, Manamaiju, Dharmasthali, and Jitpur to Kakani.
The second route begins from Budhanilkantha and traverses the Shivapuri National Park to reach Kakani. Both these hikes take around 5 to 6 hours to complete.
Mountain biking is yet another interesting option to reach Kakani. You can either follow the off-beat trails or bike along the Pasang Lhamu Highway.
